Hiili – Installation Guide
Before Installation
- Check that the building’s ventilation gap and underlay are in good condition.
- Ensure that the panels have acclimatised to site conditions for at least 48 hours.
- Use stainless steel or hot-dip galvanised fixings.
Installation Steps
1. Battens
Fix vertical battens at 600 mm centres. Use at least 22 × 50 mm battens. Ensure a ventilation gap of at least 25 mm.
2. Panel Fixing
Fix panels from bottom to top. Leave a 2–3 mm gap between panels for thermal expansion.
3. Corners and Junctions
Use metal corner profiles or mitre corners at 45°.
Tools
- Screwdriver / impact driver
- Spirit level
- Cutting tools (mitre saw recommended)
- Stainless steel fixings (screws or nail gun)
Notes
The charred surface does not need treatment before or after installation. Cut ends can be treated with Hiil end-seal paint.
